When to add your pet to the listings
When your foster pet is ready to go to a new home, then and only then, is it time to have him added to the Orphanage. But before you do think very carefully. Do you really want to put this pet up for adoption? It is okay to change your mind now or at any time and keep the pet for yourself but remember that each pet added to the listings involves a lot of work so think carefully before you begin.
TNO doesn't allow pets that are up for trade (even 'trade or adoption') to be added to our listings. This may seem unfair, but just think how unfair it would be for a potential owner who puts their heart and soul into an application to be 'outbid' by someone offering to trade a pet. Only add your foster if you're sure that you want to give them freely to a good home.
Understanding the Form
The first form on the foster page is for new pets.
username: this is the name of the account that belongs to TNO, (and appears on the Billo Gold Approved list after you pass the test). This is the account where you will receive neomail inquiries. Make sure you have spelled it correctly.
adoptee name: this is the full and complete name of your foster pet as it appears on their lookup. Not your nickname for your pet. Make sure this is spelled correctly.
rules site: This is the url to your rules and requirements. It might be a petpage (of one of your permanent pets) or it might be on a seperate site. If the rules are on that foster pets lookup or pet page (which are already linked), or you have no rules, then you can leave this field blank.
message/extras:
This area can be used for any PERMANENT extra that comes with your pet (such as a petpet, abilities, wearables, battledome equipment, toy chest) as well as outstanding stats. If you want to, you can enter a short message, such as something about your pet's personality or what you hope for them to find in a permanent home.
The things you list here are supposed to attract a prospective parent and make your pet stand out from the crowd.
Anything you enter which is not suitable will be deleted. It can be left blank.
Updating your listing
The Update form is for any pets that you choose to return to the lab and need removed from the listings, or that somehow become another species. This form may also be used to fix any errors the staff or you may have made.
Why hasn't my pet been added yet?
A member of TNO staff adds every pet to the listings individually. It is not automatic. There are many applications every day so it may take a while before your pet is added.
Before you resubmitt your pet please check here to see when the last update was. If you submitted your pet BEFORE the last update then somehow your pet was not added and you may resubmit.
Reasons why your pet was not added could be any one or more of the following:
- The username you specified is not a member of TNO
- The username you specified is not on Billo's Gold Approved List
- The username you specified could not be found (you spelled it incorrectly)
- Your adoptee could not be found (you spelled his/her name incorrectly)
- You pet had an inappropriate lookup (You forgot to indicate on the pet's lookup that he/she is up for adoption, or their lookup indicates that they're up for trade)
Why don't you automate the process?
We do not (and probably never will) automate the process because of several reasons:
a) It's impersonal and feels like we're treating the pets like nothing more than items.
b) Since we don't focus on just painted pets, we need to let foster owners list "extras" (like stats, wearables, added petpet, intelligence, etc.), and so we'd need to monitor the messages anyway to make sure they're not indecent.
c) We have better management of boarded adoptees.
d) We have better firsthand views on members who foster.
e) We can more easily do farewells from foster members to their adoptees.
Why has my pet been removed?
Every week the listings are checked for errors and mistakes by the fabulous Adoptee Checkers. Some of the reasons pets are removed are:
- You left TNO (the username you specified is no longer a member)
- Your specified username is frozen or disabled.
- Your specified username has become inactive (14 or more days without logging in)
- Your specified username to contact is not accepting neomails.
- The pet is on a disabled or frozen account.
- Your pet has been or looks as if he has been adopted out.
- Your pet has an unsuitable lookup.
