Warrior At Heart

by wtrswoopes

It all started when Swoopes decided to be the best foster mom ever and turn one of the fosters into an Ice Bori. We all agreed that an Ice Bori would be popular and quickly adopted. Being the brave warrior, I volunteered to go to a side account so we could complete the morph. So Noble and I set off on our adventure. Unfortunately, we took a wrong turn and got lost along the way.

In the distance we could see a small village so we started walking in that direction. As we neared, we heard some rustling in the bushes along the road. Curiosity got the best of us so we investigated the source of the noise. To our surprise there laid a Baby Blumaroo! The baby was crying and obviously upset. I was able to make out some of his words through the tears and sniffles. It seemed that the young Blumaroo had ventured away from home and was now lost much like we were. We decided to take him to the village and unite him with his family.

When we entered the village, the surroundings must have been familiar to the young Blumaroo because he took off in a mad dash. I assumed he was running home, but when I turned to ask Noble his thoughts I realized that it was a setup.

The Baby Blumaroo had deceived me. He had kidnapped Noble! It is my suspicion that the young Blumaroo had caught word of the new Symol Hole and decided he should steal any Symols with the hope of earning a profit in the future. The Blumaroo was corrupted by his greed and in the end that would be his downfall. I could not leave without my faithful companion, Noble. I would not give up the search for him. Noble is not just a Symol, but he is my best friend. If it took until my last breath, I would find him.

After questioning a few villagers I found out that no Baby Blumaroos lived in the village. In fact, the villagers only knew of one such baby in the entire region. The locals referred to him as El Ladrón (The Thief). According to the villagers, he lived outside of Meridell in the rundown water mill. It was a long journey to Meridell, but it was my only chance of getting Noble back. I calculated that I must have been only a half day's walk from the mill. It was late and getting darker by the minute so I decided to rest for the evening and continue my search the next morning. Boy was that a mistake...

I was awoken by voices in the distance. One of the voices was that of a human's. They were arguing. "I say we keep him." "No. He's must too dangerous." "Who is he?" I knew I had to get out of there. As I went to run away I tripped over my kettle from dinner the night before. The noise alerted the gang to my intentions and it didn't take long for them to subdue me.

That next week is still a blur to me. They kept me in a locked room and never spoke to me. They were humane and brought me food and water, but not the treatment I was accustomed to. As each day passed I began to miss home more. Was my family looking for me? My time spent in captivity seemed more like years than days.

One morning I heard them unlock my door. I waited for them to bring me my morning breakfast, but to my surprise it never came. I waited a few minutes and listened for any noises. Silence. Was this fate? Maybe, but it definitely was the break I needed. I opened the door and peered out. The house was empty. I ran as fast as I could. My only thought was to make it back home and that is what I did.

I could see our home. I was weak and tired, but only a few more yards. Come on legs, keep running. It wasn't enough. My heart said go, but my body could no longer withstand the punishment. I collapsed to the ground. When I woke up, I was in my own bed; surrounded by my family. I had to know. With every ounce of energy left I asked my dire question. "Noble?"

By the looks on their faces I knew he had not returned. Gently, Swoopes tried to reassure me. "Don't worry, we'll find him. Get some rest to build up your strength. We'll search for him until you are better."

Over the next few days I got daily reports from young Pace. Enthusiastically, he would tell me every detail of his searches and relay any clues about Noble's whereabouts. I appreciated his help, but I was ready to search for Noble myself. With Swoopes approval, I was released from bed rest.

Since then Pace and I have been camped out at the Symol Hole. We heard from some neighbors that they had spotted several Symols gathering at the Symol Hole shortly after its appearance. The Symol Gang, they called themselves. The gang was going to search the entire hole from top to bottom. No one knows how deep the hole is so we wait for their return, but more importantly the return of our beloved Noble.

To be continued…
